we - women Jennifer Monaghan how thankful am i that we - women - can now stand on our own without the strength of tenthousandmen holding us up? how grateful am i that we no longer bow entirely to the will of a man? they still command, beat, slaughter the bodies the spirits of some, still rape and murder and strangle, still wage war and still try to push us down the difference between then and now… between 1967 or 57 or 47 and now the difference is that we the difference is that we - women - can finally push back! how thankful am i? how grateful am i? i REJOICE! and shout out my gratitude to the mothers and grandmothers before me who fought this battle and paved the way for me and my daughters for it is expected no more that we endure quietly the suppression and oppression of male dominance. we - women - can rule our own houses companies families HEARTS never more to be those pedestals moving to the motions of men! by Jennifer Monaghan copyright 2004 Jennifer is a writer and poet who has had a passion for the written word since childhood.
