Shh… Can You Hear the Snow Falling?
by Dj Brown

Shhh… can you hear the snow falling?

One of the greatest mysteries and most magical of life's glories is hearing the unheard. Listening and finding the foundation of life's meanings. It is said that music could not exist without the silence between the notes. It is in the space of no sound that we find the essence of the tune. And so it is, in the quiet moments we find the brightest illumination of truth and meaning. In the soft stillness, we can find treasures beyond our wildest imagination. The peace of silence is so profound it can be said, I believe, to be one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves. If you look up the word silence in the second edition of Roget's 21st Century Thesaurus you will find the synonym death. I found the word and the path I would journey down in this article.

Two years ago, I experienced a cardiac arrest and had what is known to most as a near death experience. But, I say to you it was not the end of my life's journey. It was the Path to the softest landing in a harbour of open love, compassion and acceptance I have ever entered. In those golden moments of silence my truest-self flew free into a realm of beauty and love. The tapestry of my spirit that I have woven throughout my life became my new garment of self and the magnificence of it is still with me now.

Shhh… can you hear the snow falling?

Listen and you will hear music from the everland. It will fill your cup with the sweetest of sweet life in the moment. Today the snow is falling and I am surrounded with the most incredible music when I pause and listen. I hear your hearts calling and I feel your presence with me. You are the reason for my rebirth and I am so honoured to stand amid your love and glory.

Shhh… can you hear the snow falling?

Sometimes we get so caught up in events that grab our attention, we lose our way to the simple abundance of life. There are always appointments, meetings, shopping trips. Vacations and a zillion other parasites eat up our attention, sucking away our life energy. We can become empty and fearful. We can get so busy with time management and multi-tasking that we become hard (deadened) to the sounds of life.

The future is yet to be made whether we walk or run through life. It awaits us in the form of journeys and unknown paths. We will all find our way and there are no wrong ways. But, imagine an illuminated path where you are comfortable in who you are and what you are. Imagine regaining your centered-self with just a few moments of silence, and a place where the tapestry of spirit shines the light on your journey. We all get caught up in events which can consume our attention and time. But what is silence? It is the absence of time. It is the elixir of healing and growth and personal attunement to the harbour of love.

Shhh… can you hear the snow falling?

One of the gifts I received, among many, from my cardiac arrest is loss of memory and ability to plan and execute. Therefore, I have found a passion for remembering with the heart. I can't remember current events and find it hard to keep in order anything that seeps through that closed curtain. But, I can feel the love that walks beside me on my journey or crosses it on occasion. I am sensitive to the silent moments of communication which for some only exist in a textbook. As I sit here writing this article to share with you, I feel the tugging of your love and acceptance reaching out to me. When I walk into a room that is noisy I cannot focus on words because there are too many for my brain to process but I can feel the energy and attune myself to those who reach out in silent introductions.

I can hardly use a computer because my brain processes slowly any key strokes I have to make. So, I am no longer the computer geek I used to be but a paper and pen composer. I can feel the link between my heart and my fingers holding my pen. The emotions I feel in the experience of writing this way brings with it a clarity instead of fractured thoughts because now, I can write again with a truly open channel to my heart.

Shhh… can you hear the snow falling?

I can. I invite you to listen with me. And, I'll tell you a secret. Even if the snow doesn't fall where you live there are other glorious gifts like the sunrise, stars twinkling, or grass growing. The magical music they make will carry away the stress life can bring you, and closer to the abundance of life's gifts.

Shhh… can you hear the snow falling?

As we journey along our own ways, we are held together by unseen threads. Threads of the heart named love, compassion, truth, and authenticity. Today I reach out to you as I have felt your hearts reach out to me. The gift of life has adorned my plate for a second time in this body and I feel so blessed, grateful and humbled by its heartfelt experience.
