How it all began… In 1974, on my last day in art school, I had an ecstatic creative awakening. In a moment of playful exploration, I moved my fingertips on a paper towel intended to wipe off the paint below it. I turned over the towel and saw childlike scrawls, which had been made by the pressure of my hands. Lines coming directly from my fingertips! I began to laugh hysterically with this discovery. In a timeless moment, I realized I had received a precious gift. This was a direct mode of expression which not only fulfilled my own search for a more natural way to draw, but had the potential to fulfill the longing of countless others to open to their creative source. With this realization there came a sense of responsibility. Somehow, I would have to find a way to share this gift with the world. I named the process, simply, 'Touch Drawing'. You can see a demonstration by clicking here. In the intervening years, I have only become even more sure of the calling I received on that day. In teaching it to others, I have witnessed time and again the power and accessibility of Touch Drawing; how it allows the expression of deeply held feelings, which in turn opens the portals to the creative source. Touch Drawing is a practice of physical, emotional and spiritual integration. I founded The Center for Touch Drawing to provide resources to support you in your own process of creative awakening. Whether it is through doing Touch Drawing or interacting with the images which have come through my own years of Touch Drawing, I trust you will use the resources presented here to assist you in realizing and embodying the essence that you are! The Process of Touch Drawing: Touch Drawing is a simple yet profound process. All you do is touch paper, which has been placed over a surface of paint. The resulting impressions are then seen on the other side of the page. Lines flow directly from your fingertips! You can create many drawings in a single session, allowing for great freedom of expression. The images are a visual record of your inner process. Touch Drawing has endless applications as a tool for therapy, creativity and spiritual awareness. No artistic experience is necessary! Each summer Deborah holds the Annual Touch Drawing Gathering, oriented to people who feel a calling to share Touch Drawing with others. In a beautiful forest retreat, you will be supported to engage in a deep creative process. You can then envision your own unique way of integrating Touch Drawing into your life and work. Deborah's Artwork: Through her years of Touch Drawing, Deborah has tapped into a transpersonal level of the human soul. Out of thousands of images, she selected 120 and made them accessible to the world as SoulCards 1 & 2. "Each card is a stunning archetype that speaks directly to the soul.
