A Spiritually Enlightening Online Magazine. July's Theme: "Beyond the Horizon" A dear friend once asked me, "If you could know what's facing you as you move through life, would you want to know?" Ponder that for a moment. Now, you could be anticipating, as the song says, Beyond the Blue Horizon, a rosy happy-go-lucky life. On the other hand, you might be dreading to see a terrifying life of misery. Generally, life is a mix of both. Into each life, some rain must fall as the saying goes. So, would you really want to know what's waiting out there in your future?
Would it make life easier in some ways? If you foresee an alarming future, will you prepare like a good Scout, believing you can handle anything? Or, maybe even prevent it? Cancer? You can simply follow all the do's and don'ts the American Cancer Society espouses and you'd just know you would be able to prevent the cancer. The death of a healthy ten-year-old from a burst heart artery? Who could have even guessed that eventuality? Nothing is more difficult to handle than the death of a young person. It's so tragic, so untimely. Or maybe you will see six divorces in your future. Will it make you more persistent in trying to resolve conflicting issues? Swear off relationships forever? Or, will you merely adopt the motto, "Variety is the spice of life?"
Perhaps, you're leaving nothing to chance and you choose to see a psychic or use some other method for seeing what's ahead of you. A joyful fulfilling life? Lucky you. Or maybe, you are not so fortunate. Tough times build character, so they say. I must be quite a character! Having Multiple Sclerosis for a good many years is not a cakewalk, to be sure. The other issue? To grow spiritually and discover the manageable middle, you need to experience both extremes. When you have sad times, just think how much more exuberant you will feel in happier phases. And when the good times roll again, remember the depth of despair you felt in rougher times.
I believe it's better to meet life as it comes, believing no problem is so humungous that the Holy Spirit and you can't handle it together. God and you make a formidable duo. The key to being comfortable with whatever comes from beyond the horizon, is to seek trust in the God-Spirit, yourself, and others. To know compassion for all. And to embrace hope always.
Bottom line, trust is faith that, beyond the shadow of the world's most
gargantuan tree, there is a Higher Power, a Universal, Organizing, and Loving
Intelligence which orchestrates everything, within and without, including us!
If we are a part of Nature, just as are other Gaining trust of self, others, and God accomplishes three very important things:
1) it can release apprehension, 2) it can liberate
you from the many uncertainties and doubts
which have steadily eroded any self-confidence
you might have had, and 3) it can transform
your perception of life from being a struggle to
an easy flow.
Self-love, self-trust, self-esteem is not about feeling good, though. It's about feeling capable! Affirm that you are wise and capable, over and over again until you begin to give credence to the thought. It is pure self-delusion if you do believe that you don't have the Power and Presence of the Holy God-Spirit within you. Indeed, the Power of the Universe resides within you!
This, you can count on, no matter what comes around the bend, down the hill. Being hand-in-hand with Our Gracious Creator, we know deep within that nothing is impossible. Absolutely nothing. May the Goddess/God of this amazing Universe bless and keep you as you move forward, over and through, the horizons of your life.
Cheryl, from Michigan, says, "Having had Multiple Sclerosis for almost thirty years, I've learned much about adapting and squeezing joy out of life. Therefore, I am a metaphysical minister who believes God is in everything, everywhere. And, the Sweet God-Spirit surely lives
in my little Maya-puppy, who kept me connected with life after my youngest son was killed in
a freak automobile accident ten years ago."

Trust: Beyond Your Horizons
by Rev. Cheryl Jewett
levels of beings in this Universe - be that
mineral, plant, animal, or human,
AND
If we can trust the sun and moon to rise and
set,
AND
If we can trust the seasons to come and go,
then why wouldn't we also trust our
very lives to this Divine Eternal Energy,
knowing we are created by the same Source?
Divinely sourced, guided, and protected.
Becoming intimately open to this insight,
we then have a solid spiritual foundation
on which to build. First and foremost,
an all-important trust in ourselves must be developed.
One of my favorite affirmations regarding this issue is, "No matter what happens, I can handle it."
