Wiccan Voices
with Crystal Blanton

"How you approach life is how you will experience it." This is well known among many new age people, and it is no different within the Wiccan faith.

"As above so below, as within so without." This phrase says it all, and although Wiccans say this all the time it can be hard to connect with it when needed the most.

This year has been a challenge for many people as the balance of the universe has shifted with another year, another transition. Growth can be a painful experience and by the nature of transition itself, growth is inevitable in all processes of change. Spirituality is an initiator of growth, thereby making life an opportunity to move forward in our understanding of being who we are in the world in which we are planted .

Knowing that our experiences are opportunities gives insight into how we can look at each situation as it arises and adjust our views and attitude on it accordingly. If all things are lessons that could ultimately elevate our spiritual existence and knowledge, putting our attitudes in line with receiving the rewards of our struggles becomes of paramount importance. Laws of attraction have become so commercialized recently with the release of movies and books like The Secret. Because this drew the public's attention around ways that anyone can achieve the things they want, all things suddenly became possible. One of the most important parts of these documentaries is the importance placed on how we approach meeting needs, what we think and the messages we put into the universe. A combination of all of these things equals what we are talking about here: attitude.

Returning back to the Wiccan concept of "as above so below, as without so within," we have an opportunity to truly evaluate how the things that are going on inside of us are acting as the artist to the masterpiece being created in the reality of our lives. Your inner thoughts will create your existence in the physical plane, this is one of the reasons magic works and we as human beings are so powerful. What is happening inside our thoughts, our bodies and our conscious minds are the same things that are developing within the world we are living in everyday. The correlations are important to recognize. Magic is intention put into manifestation; attitude serves as the same spark to the creation of magic.

This concept is hard to understand because it goes against the natural grain of feeling like we are without power in our own lives. The truth of the matter is that each person has power to create his or her own reality. Creation starts with a thought and is then manifested into action. A person's attitude serves as the bridge between thoughts and reality. It is simple in many ways and very complicated in others; change your attitude and then change your life.

If you do not believe you can be happy, you won't be. If you are unsure that you can have abundance, chances are you will not. If your life feels lonely and you sit in that loneliness while interacting with the world you will not attract the people that will help to fill that void. "As within, so without" — this is the answer to why your life is or is not working the way you would like it to. The key to effective living starts with clearing out what is not good for you from the inside and allowing yourself the chance to change your attitude in ways that help you attract what you want and help you to know that it is possible.

There are many steps you can take to support the shift in attitude that attracts abundance. Here are just a few to spark some creativity on your part:

Remember that attitude can be the creator or destroyer of your wishes and dreams. It is an important part of recognizing your abilities. Power comes to those who are able to recognize that they already have it. Use your power wisely and manifest with conscious intention; a shift in your attitude could create a magnitude of positive change in your life.
