Dragonology Ernest Drake Illustrated by Helen Ward ISBN#: 0-7636-2329-6 A wonderful book! Dragonology is the complete book of dragons. It is one in the Ology' series from Candlewick Press, it is definitely comparable to Wizardology, Pirateology, and Egyptology as I have read them all. "No doubt but there is none other beeste comparable to the mightie dragon in awesome power and majestie, and few so worthie of the diligent studies of wise men." This book has great illustrations. Like detailed drawings of wings, claws and scales, a dragon eye, treasure, and of course, dragons; Frost dragons, European dragons, and even a marsupial dragon. The book includes many different dragon bios; on where to find a dragon, what it eats, and if they are to be feared or not, a map on where to find dragons in the world, and hints about how to care for a dragon, like; "Never leave children alone with a hungry Dragon." And "Mind your language around chicks - they may repeat what you say over and over in front of visitors." I never knew there were so many types of dragons out there. There are many things to touch and look at, like a wing membrane from a frost dragon, a shed skin specimen from an Asian lung dragon and dragon dust for using in spells, like "The Hong Wei invisibility spell." "Edmond Gryphon's cooling spell." And "Abramelin's taming spell." This book also includes a scientific hypothesis for why dragons breathe fire, and how wingless dragons fly. Good suggestions like; "A flame proof coat is always a good idea." And "While some dragons can read, they do not have the ability to open envelopes." This book has all of that and more.
