I have both of types of glass straws. The straight ones - 8 inches and the bent straws - 8 inches with an additional 2 inches which is bent. I find that both are essential for me - especially since I fast so often - drinking my meals is a common occurrence so having a nice toxin-free straw is important to me. Of course, equally important is the environmental benefits - since there is no waste with this. I simply rinse them out and reuse them again and again.

I use the straight straw on smaller glasses and I use the bent straws when I'm drinking from a taller glass. This way I don't have to fish the straw out of the glass, it just sits there waiting for me to take another sip!

I find that if I rinse them right away - they clean up beautifully. If I forget to wash them, then I simply soak them in boiling water for a bit and then any residual juice from the inside comes off with a final rinse.
