Being Mindful
When to Take Action… or Inaction.

by Janet Alston Jackson

At the beginning of each year we are bombarded with ads trying to coerce us into taking action. Buy this. Do this. Make goals. Go after goals.

It's enough to make you dizzy. Most of us get so confused, that we find ourselves doing nothing, and then confusion is replaced by guilt. This is called false guilt because we didn't do anything wrong, we simply didn't take action.

Actually this can be a good thing, because too often we are run on impulses which lead us in the wrong direction.

Then how do we move forward throughout the year to achieve the lifestyle we want to live?

Sit with Yourself

Taking the time to be in the quiet is an important step.

We are then able to not only hear our thoughts, but separate those thoughts which don't serve us.

How many times have you said you will start the new diet, organize, renew relationships, or go after any goal only to find yourself not moving forward?

When you are quiet, and think about the goal, you may also hear a voice saying, "You can't do it."

Most of us push that voice aside and ramp up our energy to roar ahead, only to find ourselves tired breathless, frustrated, and without hope.

Heed the Voice

Instead of ignoring the critical voice, and trying to think positive when you really get into a power battle, try a different way.

Love the voice, and the feeling you get when you have self doubts.

Many of us are afraid to listen to that voice, but it's an important tool. You see we run after goals, not realizing we have programs, beliefs and feelings which sabotage us from getting what we want. This is why goals don't work for many people.

We're not saying not to make goals. However, don't go charging after a goal only to be disappointed. Take the time to sit down in a quiet place and ask yourself honestly, "Why haven't I gotten what I wanted?" Take full responsibility for the answer that you hear.

Be Brave

Now when you hear the answer, or the voice that says "I can't", don't be afraid of what you hear, be thankful, because it will save you endless hours and frustration. You have become your own therapist, and reached the root of why your goals and dreams have not materialized. This is gold for you.

Love is the Healer

Instead of being frustrated and hopeless, every time you tune into the "I can't" voice, it's your opportunity to send it love. Love neutralizes and dissolves "I can't," and is universal. There is no coincidence that all great religions through the ages teach "love."

When you send love to the negative voice and feelings within you, you are also dissolving the counter energies that keep you from living your dreams.

Make This Your Practice

Whenever that voice comes up you can visualize a "Love" light zapping it like a laser. Use your imagination. Some people see a golden or pink light like fog wrapping around and dissolving the negative feelings. Some see the Pac Man of "Love," chomping through the counter feelings. Find your own method.

How often should you do this? As many times as the feeling comes up. For some of us, it will come up dozens of times a day that we are aware of. However, when we send it love, you will notice the counter energies weakens, or dissolves completely, and it is no longer an issue.

Some people say it takes too much time or is too much of an effort. Think of it like this. The negative feelings are going to come up anyway, so you can spend time ignoring them and being guided in the wrong direction, or you can use the information wisely and dissolve with love whatever is holding you back. In other words, wake up and be aware.

Goals Come Together Easily

You will suddenly also find you are not charging toward your goals (because you are moving on a higher level) but rather you are being guided by inspiration. Inspiration means IN SPIRIT. You are in oneness with the Universe. Suddenly, you are not fighting, but flowing with life.

Inspiration is Wisdom

Often the direction you thought you should take is entirely different. You are no longer looking up at your life like a huge boulder hanging over your head, as something you have to conquer. Love will give you a different view. You will find yourself looking down from a cloud at any difficulties and observing yourself move through them with ease.

You will accomplish things with more energy, knowing that you don't have to do all the work, the light within you will carry you forward easily and effortlessly. Things you thought would be hard to do are "magically" done.

So before you make those new changes and take action by charging after your goals like you are going into battle, take inaction first. Sit in the quiet, observe your breath and listen from within. Then ask yourself:

Why haven't I achieved my goals before?

Or

What is holding me back?

Be brave and allow whatever needs to come up to come up. Give thanks for the answer, then send it and the feeling love. Then watch the "miracles" in your life unfold.

The bottom line is you are already whole, perfect and complete. Erasing the negative messages with love, allows your true self to come forward releasing the happiness, peace, prosperity, health and love that are already inside of you.
