Universal Waite Tarot Conceived by Stuart R. Kaplan Drawings by Pamela Colman Smith Colouring by Mary Hanson-Roberts ISBN # : 0-88079-496-8 ![]() This deck pleasantly surprised me. The images are easy to interpret and it follows the "regular" tarot meanings, which is really nice. So many decks create their own cards, changing the original meanings; and because of this, they don't make a good starter deck. This is an excellent starter deck. The cards have enough colours and imagery in them to let the intuitive side of the reader develop, while not overwhelming them with too much to look at. As a beginner to the tarot it's important to get a deck which follows the universal meanings so you learn your abc's before you move on to more complex decks. This gives you a good foundation and really assists your intuition to grow. This is also a deck for an advanced student. I found this deck extremely 'talkative' and the readings were detailed with great depth. I found the cards easy to interpret, so rather than spending time trying to figure out what the cards are attempting to tell me, I was able to quickly intuit the answers to my questions. I really enjoyed reviewing this deck. Reviewed by,
