A Spiritually Enlightening Online Magazine. May's Theme: "Interconnectedness" The interconnectedness of all things. What a natural concept this is. Obviously everything and everyone is connected. We all depend on each other - whether we realize it or not - to live. There are very few people who are hermits - living in the woods alone but even they are interconnected with the land they live off.
When we separate ourselves from those around us, forget how the meat we are serving to our families came onto our table, shop at stores who treat their employees with disrespect
we become part of that cycle.
My Mom always said to me, "Aleesha remember to shop with your feet!" What she meant by this is; only gift those establishments with your business who you want to keep in business. Don't look at shopping as "the best deal possible" but rather look at it "My money is keeping this business in business. I am paying their employees wages. Is this store/restaurant/market a place I want to support financially or would my money be better spent at the another one?"
My hubby and I have a few favourite restaurants and stores. We always make sure we get to know the owners so we can make an educated choice for ourselves as to whether or not we want to bless them with our cash. Seldom do we go to a 'chain' as we prefer to keep our local small businesses alive and well. There are purchases we make at 'chain-stores' but our day to day purchases are made at smaller more personal stores.
My local market gives me great deals on produce. I buy by the case and they gift me a price very close to wholesale. This is a win/win situation. I am able to get a better deal on food and they know I'll be purchasing lots of other items for my family there as well. They aren't losing money by assisting to keep my costs lower - they are gaining all of my business! Seldom do I go in and not get other items for my family.
So remember that you have the power when you go out to spend your money. It's up to you where you spend it, who you support - what employees are being paid with your cash! Shop wisely
remember you are part of the interconnectedness of all things. If you buy organic meat - the life of those animals was probably a higher standard - and isn't that something you want to support?
Remember to shop with YOUR feet!
