A Spiritually Enlightening Online Magazine. May's Theme: "Being Present" A moment in time, not so far in the past
The Universe called forth the chalice glass
It filled up and spilled over your name, and your cry echoed to the same
Innocent spirits that we are, we are born into our bodies with an incredible gift of presence. From the time we are free of our mother's womb each of us wake to a body encasing our Spirit, and our voice cries for the first time in response to the changes about us.
Infants as such are aware of a level of presence in its truest sense. Everything outside is also within. Sounds, lights, hands moving us fill a child with new experiences. The environment as such is absorbed, stored, held in body, mind and spirit for knowledge to build upon.
No telling where our way might lead. We are moved to and through times with our parents, family, teachers and spiritual guides. Time passes while we are busy growing and gaining skills and we begin to lose that pure sense of presence unless it is fostered and fed on a daily basis. Many lose it completely. Some of us manage a fogged remembrance of a loss we can't express. Then, there are those who notice everything. Feel their environment and those they share it with. Even fewer than we might guess, poses a complete state of presence in which they live.
The capability to internalize and absorb into our bodies, minds and spirits the All, means we utilize all of our senses as well as our higher-self, pure love, to experience life and all we share it with in conscious living. We may accurately see a tree emerging from a season of rest and notice each change it's undergone. We may notice differences in the bark or limbs and how they bend and twist, even the tiny little nubs beginning to swell and stretch into a new awakening. Just being bodily present looking at a tree doesn't mean we are consciously present. Sitting with a friend does not mean we are really there. It is in living outside of ourselves in thought or daydreams we rob ourselves, others and we cheat the world and universe of our presence.
Our desire to be heard and touched by life is equal to the effort we, on our journey, live within ourselves consciously experiencing all that life offers. Much like how I explain the meaning of life: Gathering gossamer threads of love and weaving them together as a tapestry of thanksgiving. When life is no longer measured in meager increments of time, but rather, lived in conscious love we are able to rightly live a life of thanksgiving.
Much of life is implicit and nonverbal and it is so easy to not notice, not hear, not be a part of it all. For some of us it is effortless to become complacent because sometimes things are less complicated if we're not fully involved. A price is paid for this well worn path of least resistance because we become lonely and frightened. Conscious presence keeps us connected to our best of self. Once in a time out of mind our spirits were the Light. In life we live in the Light only by conscious presence. For as sure as the sun and moon rise and fall across the horizons we are but a speck of Light waiting to be All.
