About the Cover Julie Hoyle "The Merging" Early one evening a couple of years ago, I was taking a meditative walk around the perimeter of the golf course near my home on Grand Bahama Island. There are several large lakes and it has become a natural habitat for white egrets, blue-grey herons and cormorants. Just before the sun goes down, they fly silently in and settle for the evening, a stunning sight to behold. That particular evening, I delighted in the gathering flocks and then turned to head back home. However, on the brow of a small incline, I was held fast by the most incredible sight. Circled by vast, white clouds reflecting blue-lilac bands of colour, I was amazed to see others still, glowing orange and fiery red, reflecting the heat of the setting sun. It was an incredible moment. Held bound by this illumined beauty, I was deeply touched by the awareness that what I was viewing was not going to last long. At the same time, I became aware that I was seeing myself. I was the setting sun, the clouds, the expanse of sky, the birds and the soft breeze. I was everything and nothing. For days after, that sight remained, pressing in, urging me to express what I had been gifted with. Taking an old piece of cardboard, splattering white and pale blue blocks of acrylic paint, I passionately built up bands of colour as I remembered them; attempting to record the compelling message they had shared with me. More deeply, though, I knew I was being called to tell the story of my spiritual awakening and subsequent merging into unity consciousness. It was this evening that opened another inner door, marking the dissolution of the small 'i' into the I AM. This is why the painting is titled, "The Merging".
