Wiccan Voices
with Crystal Blanton

Life has a way of continuously adding on layers which make it hard to move from one spot to another. As much as each of us wants to believe we can do what we want when we want to, the reality is each person has so many things that tie them to one place, one moment in time, one spot in life it can feel impossible to move beyond.

As the natural progression of life pushes us to grow, life circumstance can create an automatic friction which makes growth beyond a certain place feel painful, impossible, inconceivable and beyond comprehension. This is one of the major reasons many people don't want change and don't want growth; it is scary and can be painful and unpredictable. Unfortunately, without moving forward we are just left to stand still or possibly move backwards. The idea of moving backwards can be more painful than pushing through the drama of moving forward.

See a common theme here? Change is hard and growth can be chaotic but it is a gift that is given to us by the Gods themselves.

Within the principles of Wicca we believe in the cycles of life and in the knowledge that energy creates all things. In that we also know energy is connected to all things. Without energy to build on, we cannot create and we cannot grow. So why is it so scary to release things in our life when we know it is opening the door to make room to build on new energy? Allowing ourselves the room to grow means we have to trust those things we do not know and cannot always see. Trust is difficult and letting go of control is even harder, even when we want to trust in the plan of the Gods. But if we don't trust we cannot let go and know what is to come is meant to be.

As painful as fear can be, there is also a bit of comfort in living within what you have created to be normal in your world. To some degree, these are feelings you can control. When those things are released to the Lord and Lady to be recycled and cleansed, you are left with what could become opportunity for more positive things or leaving yourself open for what may appear to be new and fresh pain. In reality, holding on to pain only allows it the perfect environment to fester and grow. So why not practice letting it go?

The process of release is a gift from the Gods which allows us to make every moment a new opportunity for happiness and fulfillment. You can restart your existence at any moment and use that energy to manifest things anew. The universe creates the canvas a witch can utilize for his or her paints. The masterpieces of life are created with a single vision which reaches from the mind and into the hand that holds the brush. This type of creation is fueled by belief and power within a witch's world. Without a clean canvas in which to paint, the image will be distorted and mingled with other versions of a previous creation. New creations deserve a clean slate to work with.

Release is important to the very concept of manifestation and the understanding that we are responsible for the beauty we bring in our own lives. Allowing yourself to truly create gives you the chance to truly grow.

Whether you choose to do ritual release work, meditation, mantras, dance, yoga, therapy, cord cutting or a combination of all of the many methods of release, one thing is clear. Release it mandatory if you plan on enjoying all there is to this journey called life. Trust in the plan of the Gods and allow the work of divinity into your life in those ways you can't control. That is the marker of faith. Release what no longer serves you and make room for things that may just illuminate the road ahead.

As a idea for energetic release maintenance, here is a small prayer to release the energy of the day as you move into the land of rest at night time.

"Energy stirs above and below, connecting to everything.
As I transition into the end of my day, I reopen myself to thee.
Releasing all that I no longer need, my vibration will rise and sing.
As one I enter my night time rest, rejoicing in all of me."

May your next journey begin with clean paint brushes and a plethora of creative intent that is coloured by the gifts of the Gods.
