Simplified Qabala Magic Ted Andrews ISBN #: 0-7387-0394-X Those interested in Western mystical tradition and magic will find this book a gentle jumping-off point to understanding the Qabala, before delving into deeper readings. This is not the Kabbalah of the Jewish tradition, which requires years of study and an in-depth knowledge of the ancient Hebrew language.This is an introduction to the Qabala as interpreted by the Golden Dawn. Ted Andrews, in his introduction says, "We need only remember: we are never given a dream or wish without also being given the means and the power to make it manifest. We can each become an instrument capable of using the forces of Light to the dedicated service of God and humans. This alone is magic." Andrews tells us the Qabala is a key, which can expand our consciousness and open our minds to the potential within us. He explains to us, in a clear and simple way, that the tree of life is a symbol of the universe itself. We are told how we can access the energies available to us within its spheres. He shares with us simple meditation techniques, Middle pillar exercises for strength and protection and gives us a brief introduction to Pathworking. Because of the many references to God, Christ and Archangels, some Pagans may not be comfortable with the subject matter. However, students of the tarot should find it helpful in better understanding the basics of this mystical map which so strongly influenced Aleister Crowley's Thoth, and Arthur Edward Waite's Rider-Waite tarots. Most of the books I've seen on the Qabala are frankly… well… intimidating. I found Simplified Qabala Magic, to make a very complex subject surprisingly easy to grasp.
