Freeing Our Timeless Spirit
by Dj Brown

Moon light raining down on the grass, lit the deep night dew, settling upon the breast of Earth Mother's sweet green coverlet. Her peaceful stillness lifted itself into the low clinging growth, moving ever so slowly up, up, up into the trees, climbing trunks to leafy canopy's, finally moving silently from her holy ground to the celestial candles keeping moon company. Not trespassing upon the peace, the seekers gossamer threads of love bond the landscape, like a spiders web to her heart in grateful thanksgiving for life.

I stand on holy ground,
This path my spirit has chosen.
In this moon light I choose to release,
What holds me bound from my
Timeless spirit.
I release old self doubt,
Controlling ego,
Paralyzing fear,
Crushing anxiety,
Long harboured since time out of mind.
I release my selfish freedom only
To realize I'm truly free.
Moons' raining light heals me,
For the essence of self,
Lives only in spirit.

Bared to the single-minded journey back to the spiritual self the seeker finds release where we may. Be it in the raining moon light, in a holy temple of meditation or in a prayer filled synagogue. We seek what we understand and know, to heal what is broken. Let us not be distracted by the sneaking silhouettes of false truth. Sister ego and brother fear are only bad dreams clinging to our joy and love of life. The power they try to hold over us can be mighty and only intentional awareness of our love of life has the authority to claim freedom from them. If we are not prepared for them they attach to our self esteem and eat away at it until there is nothing. Ego and fear are not intrinsic to our spirit. They are not part of our purpose. They are not the way of the Light. By shredding the need to feed our egos and protect ourselves from fear we find in ourselves the courage to be who we are, our innocent selves doing the best we can with what we have in the moment. The beauty in our journey to healing is the illumination of the Light force within. A stream of untainted joy flows freely from the Blessed Breath of Life directly into us. Vigilant, we seekers recognize this pure flowing joy, treasure and guard it from the pollution of self-serving egocentricity.

Letting loose of the cold clutches of ego and fear takes away their power to divert us from our purpose. Together we are meant to create in purposeful love. When we find ways to achieve complete corporation our creations become the living word. "What you do for my sisters and brothers, you also do for me." One person at a time, one spirit in sincere contemplation, one hand reaching out to another will be the way we find our way into the Living Light.

Release is the Buddha's third truth. This third truth pronounces simply this understanding is attainable to those who nurture critical traits of mind. From the Buddhist collection of verse, the Dbammapada:
I wondered through the rounds of countless births,
Seeking but not finding the builder of this house.
Sorrowful indeed is birth again and again.
Oh, housebuilder! You have now been seen.
You shall build the house no longer.
All your rafters have been broken,
Your ridgepole shattered.
My mind has attained unconditional freedom.
Achieved is the end of craving.

Buddha's message is encapsulated in this simple truth. Carved from attentiveness Buddha has seen, to be aware is to heal. Expressed as rafters in the verse, ego "greed" and fear "hatred of what we do not know" are broken. The ridgepole shattered. Shadows, of what is not there, no longer leave us harnessed to endless cycles. Ego and fear are broken and cast aside. We are no longer defined by our moody thoughtlessness.

You, and you, and you, and me too… we all in this together; what we create in thoughts, words and actions design our future. What we do separately, we share together. In as much as we are equally autonomous we are also united in humanity. Our sovereign spirits grow differently while our source is One.

Liberation from fear and ego brings us into a centred state of balance to heal what is broken. Conscious and purposeful acts of loving empathy, self-guided discipline and spirit-directed illumination prepare us to join the whole of humanity. This purposeful act changes our destination from self-centred me to mindful togetherness.

Can we imagine our world at peace? Is it possible for us to help heal Earth Mother before the scales tip to the end life as we imagine it might be in a clean environment, with healthy air to fill our lungs, wholesome foods to feed our bodies, kindness and compassion leading us to a peaceful world? Are we capable of not looking down on others unless it is to give them a hand up? Yes, yes it is possible. We are capable of thinking about making the life of another easier with the simple gift of caring enough to serve instead of being served? Yes we can let go of, the me and care for us. It's there in our hearts built into our spirits if we encourage, nurture and feed it with love to live and thrive.

In gratitude for the life given me and my faith in the morrow, tonight I let moon's light seep into my soul. I stand grounded and centred solid on Earth Mother moonlit coverlet and honour the Beloved Breath of Life from whence I come.
