A Spiritually Enlightening Online Magazine. September's Theme: "Contact" Our lives consist of a balancing act between "knowing our limitations" and "expanding our horizons." There is a fine line between being our unique selves and being part of the Universal Intelligence. There is a boundary between what we know and what we don't. And that boundary can often be thick and impenetrable, guarded by all manner of defensive systems we have put into place to ensure a line is never crossed. How easy it is to say we should walk in someone's shoes and how hard it can be to do so.
When that line is crossed, the barrier breached, a boundary overcome, then we have communication, communion, empathy, understanding. The act of opening ourselves to the new, the unknown, the weird and the strange, is what I call contact.
Life may not be a contact sport, but it certainly needs contact to be worthwhile.
And it's here that my meditation begins:
Breathe in and out. Wherever you are, think about something you don't understand. Perhaps you feel a wall in your life that is an obstacle, or perhaps you only suspect one is there. Reach out with your senses, your mind, your intellect and your understanding. Here is a place where the mind is not open, frozen in place and time. Here lies the boundary and on the next breath we'll make contact.
Breathe in and out and with that out breath reach out and touch the boundary, embrace the wall. What is it about this line that keeps you on one side and whatever you are trying to reach on the other? Let intuition flow, Light and love heal the gap between you and the other, and allow reason to speak its own form of wisdom. Is the boundary there no longer useful and therefore should be discarded? Does it serve still a useful purpose that should be respected? Know that whatever the answer is, you are understanding more fully your environment but yet more importantly you are gaining deeper understanding of yourself.
Again, breathe in and out. Now is the time to decide what to do with the knowledge learned—the wisdom gained. Know that in this time, you have grown. And for many of us, that is simply another form of contact which invariably leads to more contact with the outside world.
